Use Car Wax on Your Refrigerator Video Tip

Summary: Kitchens get dirty easily, but this tip will help take the strain off of cleaning the biggest appliance in your kitchen: the refrigerator. Buffing your fridge with car wax will keep your refrigerator cleaner longer on the inside and outside by keeping food and other gunk from sticking to your fridge's surfaces. It will also make messes in the refrigerator easier to clean up.

One of the most prominent appliances in any kitchen is the refrigerator. Unfortunately, over time, any refrigerator will begin to build up dirt and grime. The trick is to keep your refrigerator from turning into an eyesore. Thoroughly cleaning a refrigerator takes a great deal of time, and because a large fridge is such an essential—and constantly used—part of the kitchen, keeping it clean can sometimes seem like a battle.

Fortunately, there is a very effective method to lighten the cleaning load on your refrigerator. A good waxing with car wax every now and then will help keep the fridge looking shiny and new. Car wax is used on a car to help keep your car cleaner for a longer period of time, and it can do exactly the same thing for your refrigerator.

To wax your refrigerator, you must first thoroughly clean your refrigerator, just as you would to your car before waxing it. Regular kitchen surface cleaners like Pine Sol® or Formula 409® and some scrubbing with the rough side of a sponge should be sufficient for the task. After the fridge is cleaned, rub it down thoroughly and evenly with the car wax. Make sure to get both the inside and the outside of the refrigerator. Please keep in mind that you should always follow the specific directions on the car wax container, since each brand of wax may need to be applied in a slightly different way.

When the refrigerator has been properly waxed, it will make life much easier. Spills, stains, and fingerprints will wipe right off. All the dust that used to accumulate all over the outside of the refrigerator will slip right off to the floor. While this does not guarantee a dust-free refrigerator, it will help keep dust off and make dusting much easier.
