Cover Carpet Stains with Crayons

Summary: Since bleach stains don't come out of carpets, the only way to deal with them is to cover them up. For an inexpensive, easy, and permanent solution, use crayons. Simply find a crayon that matches your carpet, color the stain, and melt the wax into the carpet fibers.

Because carpets are such an important part of most homes, they tend to suffer the worst stains of anything in the home. You may find that you want to replace your carpet every couple of years just because of the frustration of the spots that tend to appear, especially if you have active children living in your home. If you find that your carpet has a particularly tough grease stain, or a bleach spot that looks ugly, do not throw out the carpet just yet. Try this nice little trick first, and soon your carpet will look great again.

All you need to cover up those pesky spots on you carpet is a child's box of crayons. This should be particularly easy to come by if it was a child that caused the spot. Even if you have no children, finding crayons is just as simple as going to your nearest toy or office supply store. When you have your box of crayons, pick out the crayon whose color best matches your carpet. This may be difficult if your carpet is a unique color, but if you find a big enough box of crayons, you are sure to find something that matches. When you have the right color crayon, color the spot in with the crayon. You do not even have to color within the lines!

After you have colored in the area, you will need to set the color, otherwise it will just come out the next time you have your carpet cleaned. To do this, just lay a piece of wax paper over the area, and melt the crayon into the fibers using a warm iron. Make sure it is not too hot, or you will melt the carpet as well. If you are worried about using an iron, try a blow-dryer. Any blow-dryer will probably work if it has a very hot setting. Repeat this procedure for any carpet spot in your house to make your carpet look good again.
