Start at the Top when Cleaning a Room

Summary: Having an order and method to everything may seem excessive, but it really can help in your cleaning. If you clean a room from top to bottom and from one end to the other, you'll save yourself the hassle of dirtying things you've already cleaned and needing to clean them again.

For many people, organization is extremely important. The way things are done can become more important than what is actually done. In some cases, the people actually have a point. Their way really is better and more effective. This is one example of such a way to clean that may seem silly to some, but makes sense in the end.

When you start cleaning a room, the best way to do it is have a plan of how you are going to clean it. You should consider where you want to start and where you want to end. As you clean, you do not want to backtrack. It takes more time to do things over again, and you can also dirty things up that you already cleaned.

For example, when you are cleaning a room, you want to start and the top and move toward the bottom. Start by dusting and cleaning things that are on the ceiling—fans, chandeliers, plants, etc. As you clean up there, the dust is going to fall and stick to the walls and hit the floor. Move from the ceiling and the items up there to the walls. Wipe them down well. After you do that, you can finish up with the items that are on the floor, and then finally finish up by cleaning the floor. This method will make sure that you do not have to clean any area twice.

While not necessary, you should also move from the back of the room and move toward the door. While this does not matter with most of the things you clean, it is a good idea to do this with vacuuming. That will help it so you do not track the dust from the door into the corners of the room.

If you clean the room with this method, it will save time and you will stop re-cleaning things that have already been cleaned.
