Repair a Scratched Stainless Steel Sink

Summary: Stainless steel sinks take a lot of abuse in a lifetime. To revive the look of your stainless steel, use chrome polish from your local auto parts store. It will make your sink shine as if it was brand new and it will disguise any scratches in your stainless steel.

Stainless steel can stand up to a lot of wear and tear, and suffers a lot over the years. If it is used as a sink, it can go through all sorts of metals that will scratch and scrape it up, along with harsh chemicals that can damage the surface and make it look old and worn. If you want your stainless steel sink to look great again, just try this handy little tip. Your stainless steel will look as shiny as when it was new.

Start the process of reviving your stainless steel by heading over to your local auto parts store. Auto parts stores really specialize in cleaning up and making metals shine, since so many people want their car to look amazing as it is driving down the road. For your particular project, buy a can of chrome polish. When you get home, just dab a rag into the polish and rub it all over your stainless steel sink. This will take a little bit of elbow grease, but just scrub away at the whole thing. Within just a little bit of time, your sink will be shimmering like new. As an added bonus, if you have any left over chrome polish, you can use it on any chrome you might have on your car.

One thing that you will want to keep in mind is this will not actually repair your stainless steel. You still will have the scratches and scrapes, and there really is not much you can do to actually get them out short of buying a new stainless steel sink. However, this tip will make your sink look great. It will return the luster and shine to it that you have not seen in years. With such a shiny sink, the scratches will hardly be noticeable at all.
