I am not one to move my furniture around often. However, every now and then a new piece of furniture will make its way into the house, and it has to go somewhere. When this happens, one or more of the old pieces will have to be moved. Even though the strain of moving the furniture seems hard enough, even after the furniture is moved, little indentations always seem to be left behind where the furniture was before. No matter how much effort is put into removing those annoying dents, they refuse to come out.
The dents that are left over usually go all the way down into the carpet padding. While it is not the most unsightly thing that could happen to your carpet, it is certainly not an attractive sight. These dents usually will lessen with time, but even then they never seem to go away completely.
There is a way to get rid of the unsightly spots. The dents exist because the carpet and carpet padding have been pushed flat, so all that you have to do to get rid of them is to fluff the carpet out. Clearly this is easier said than done. A pillow can be picked up to be fluffed, but a carpet cannot. To fluff it out, all that needs to be done is have an ice cube placed on each of the dents. The ice will slowly melt into the dent. The melting ice will perk up the carpet fibers. This will help the dent come out, but one more thing must be done.
To completely remove the dent, you must take something to help the fibers perk up just a little bit more. Almost anything that you can get in there will work: an old toothbrush, a toothpick, a coin, or even your finger. With just a little effort on your part, the carpet will perk right up, and those unsightly dents will be only a past impression.
