Tips for Washing Your Blue Jeans

I love my jeans. They are some of my favorite and most utilized items of clothing and so I want to take care of them so they last me a while. One of the things I hate the most is when I find that my jeans I just washed are significantly faded or too short. Good grief—I wear them all the time! I don't have the time or money for the washer or dryer to ruin my jeans. That's why I do a few simple things whenever I do the laundry.

I always wash my jeans by themselves. I wait until I don't have any clean jeans and can't wear any other pair without feeling a little grungy. You never want to wait too long, but if you wait until you have a good-sized load of all jeans, then you can treat your jeans in the same way. Wash them in cold water so they don't shrink.

When you dry jeans, get the excess and drenched quality out by using the dryer for a few minutes, but let them air dry for most of the way. When they air dry, you prevent shrinking and they'll stay in excellent condition for much longer. Also remember that some clothes, especially jeans and other denim items, will fade less and last longer if you turn them inside out before washing.

It's a good idea to wash new blue jeans by themselves to avoid staining other garments. And after you dry them, check inside the dryer for dye that could ruin your next load of clothes. If you do find traces of dye, wipe out the scum with soapy water. Then swab it again with a clean, wet cloth to remove any soap residue.

Jeans are a staple of any wardrobe and as such, you want to make sure they maintain their quality. The first time you wash your new jeans doesn't have to mark the end of your jeans' career. You can easily maintain them and keep them nice by simply following just a few rules. Keep your jeans forever!
