We have all heard the rumors on what supposedly gets gum out of your carpet. But I am going to show you what really works. All you need to get gum out of your carpet is a jar of creamy peanut butter.
After you scrape up the excess gum, which by way, will be easier if you just take an ice cube and hold it on there, wait till it hardens, and then scrape it off. Just take peanut butter, and apply it to the area, and make sure that you keep it just on the area, and try not to get it on the rest of the carpet. It won't hurt the carpet, but it will just be a hassle to clean up.
Once the peanut butter is rubbed in, then just take a clean cloth and wipe away all the residual gum and all the excess peanut butter. And you should have some peanut butter left over, but that's not a problem, because you can make your own little mixture to clean that up.
All you need to do is mix together about 1 teaspoon of liquid dishwasher detergent, with about a cup of lukewarm water. Dab that mixture onto the area. Rub it in good, let it dry and then you'll be left with a clean carpet. To help it dry faster you can dab it with a paper towel.
