Counteract Kitchen Stains with Bleach

Have you ever come across an ugly countertop stain that just will not go away, no matter what you try? Have you ever been tempted to scrub that stain as hard as you can, even though it will probably scratch the countertop? With a few drops of bleach and this clever tip, you can make that stain a thing of the past, without even scrubbing.

These stains have soaked into the surface of your counter, so your stain fighter needs to soak into the surface as well. All you need to do is soak a couple of paper towels in bleach and put them over the stains. After that, soak a couple more paper towels in water and lay them over the bleach-filled paper towels. Let the stack soak overnight so that the bleach can reach the stain and destroy it. In the morning, the stain will have disappeared. You can then use our other countertop tips and tricks, like cleaning with club soda, to make the countertops look brand new.

This tip does not have to be limited only to kitchen countertops. Try it on white porcelain sinks. You will find it works just as well.

Please remember that bleach can be a very dangerous substance. While handling any bleach, for this project or any other, please use rubber gloves. This will protect your hands while you work. If bleach does come in contact with your skin, rinse the affected spot thoroughly. Also make sure to keep the bleach and the bleached-soaked paper towels away from children. And, as one more tip of safety, do not mix the bleach with Windex or other glass cleaners. It will release harmful chemicals into the air. While you may want to spray down your countertop with glass cleaner right after removing the spot to make the counter shinier, make sure that all the bleach has been washed away first.
