Use Your Light Bulbs to Scent Your Rooms

Have you ever wished that you had one of those automatic air fresheners that are so constantly advertised on television, only to go to the store and realize the price was a little too steep? Or perhaps you bought one of them and found that the smell lasted for only a short period of time before you had to go out and buy another replacement. If you are tired of going through this routine, or you just want your rooms to smell better whenever you enter them with little effort on your part, try this handy little tip. It will make your rooms smell fresh without the cost.

Take a bit of perfume or cologne of your favorite smell. Squirt just a little bit of it near the light bulb of the room that you want to smell good. When you turn on the light, the light bulb will heat up. The heat will spread the fragrance throughout the room, making it smell great every time you need the light on. If you do not have any perfumes, I suggest going to Bath and Body Works. They sell many options for natural smelling fragrances that will fit with the room. This, of course, it just a recommendation, and is by no means necessary.

Important: Before you try this technique, you need to keep a few things in mind. First, never squirt anything on a hot light bulb. Spraying cold liquid on a hot bulb—particularly cold liquid that may contain alcohol—can be very dangerous. It can cause the bulb to break, or perhaps even explode. I would suggest wearing goggles if you have them just in case something goes wrong, so you do not get glass in your eyes. If you decide to try squirting the perfume or cologne on the light bulb itself, you must be absolutely sure that the bulb is cool to the touch before squirting it.

One more thing to keep in mind is this tip is intended for incandescent bulbs, which run fairly hot. If you are trying to use florescent lights, it may not work as effectively, but it should still work.
