Cheap Carpet Cleaning

Summary: Anyone who has ever turned to a professional carpet cleaning company can tell you that it isn't exactly cheap. Cheap carpet cleaning will typically require you to break down and do it yourself. If you are looking for the cheapest, least expensive ways to clean your carpet, then here are the ways you can do it.

One of the more frustrating experiences for a homeowner or renter is cleaning the carpets. Whether it is due to moving out and trying to get your deposit back, or simply having a parade of muddy children and pets traipse through your home, everyone will eventually find themselves faced with the necessity of cleaning their carpeting. Here is how you can do your own cheap carpet cleaning.

  • Preventative measures. The best method for cleaning your carpet cheaply is to keep the cleaning down to a minimum. As the old saying says, an ounce of prevention is worth a pound of cure. Keep an eye out for any spills or potential stains, and the minute you see one clean it up. Keeping staining agents off your carpets, not allowing anyone to eat in an area where there is carpeting, and keeping dirty pets and children off of carpets will all help reduce the amount of wear and tear on your carpeting while making your cleaning efforts as cheap and easy as possible.
  • Spot cleaning. If you find yourself faced with a dirty carpet, the cheapest way to clean is by spot cleaning. What this means is that you do not clean the entire carpet, but rather just the one area that is dirty. Using spot removal methods and tools such as a cleaner foam or shampoo, and a damp sponge, will only cost you a fraction of renting a carpet cleaner and take a fraction of the time.
  • Do-it-yourself. When you have the need to clean a larger section of carpeting in your home, it may be necessary to rent a carpet cleaner. Such machines like a steam cleaner or shampooer can be fairly expensive if purchased, so renting one is a cost effective solution. Follow the directions that come with the machine and you should have your carpeting clean within a day or two, and for less than $200.
  • Professionals. No matter how you slice it, there will be times when a home owner needs to break down and hire a professional to clean the carpet. If you find yourself in that situation, then there are some things you should keep in mind. First, do not turn to the first company that you hear about. Do some research among the different companies in your area. This research needs to include price, services, availability, and work history. After comparing the answers to each of these items, choose the one company that will provide the best service for the least amount of money and be able to do the work as quickly as possible. Look for companies that have satisfied customers to back up their claims.
