Cleaning Crayon Marks Off of an LCD Screen

Well, it has finally happened. Your child (or someone else's) has barbarically attacked your precious LCD screen, fueled by their need for artistic expression...in other words, you now have a picture of a dog that really looks like a blob on sticks on your expensive electronic screen. Not to worry! There are lots of suggestions that can help remove crayon from LCD screens.

First, seriously consider that you need to make a purchase. Luckily for you, the product I suggest is the Mr. Clean Magic Eraser, which is reasonably-priced. It is gentle, only needs some water to work, and has been known to eliminate this problem in other LCD screens before yours.

What can you do if you do not have time to dash off to the store before your friends all come over to watch Mystery Science Theatre 3000? Well, there are a few things to do in a pinch. The official Crayola website recommends using WD-40 to clean plastics, and what do you know, it turns out your screen is made of that stuff. Try some on a little corner first if you are nervous, just so you know you are going to be okay, and then go all out and spray some on a soft cloth and rub off the crayon. You should be able to wipe it again with some soapy water to get the WD-40 off and then dry it. Then you will be good to go.

If you do not have any WD-40, then you can use isopropyl alcohol on a soft cloth to get the crayon off. Be careful not to push hard on your screen though, since LCD screens are delicate. A somewhat risky solution is to use baby wipes with nail polish remover on them (I say risky because the remover may contain acetone, and though you can get them without acetone in them I would still be careful if I used one). It can work, though, if the cleaning is in quick, circular motions and the remover is then cleaned off the spot as soon as the crayon has been removed from the LCD screen.
