Reduce the Amount of Lint in Your Laundry

Lint is a natural part of laundry—there's just no escaping it completely. I remember when I was little and I always got such a thrill out of emptying the lint collector from the dryer and luckily for me, that job will always be there. Even though you'll always have lint in your laundry, there are a few measures you can take to reduce that lint and keep your laundry as lint free as possible!

The most common way to reduce lint in your laundry is to use and maintain your lint filter. The lint filter's purpose is to (believe it or not) catch your lint and prevent it from getting on your clothes. The key for the lint filter to work is to consistently clean it out because if the lint is allowed to accumulate too much then the lint filter won't do what it's supposed to and you'll end up with even more lint flying around in your dryer and landing all over your clothes.

Another way to avoid lint building up in your laundry and on your clothes is to not dry your clothes all the way in the dryer. Air-dry your clothes a bit and you'll be good to go. If the garment isn't allowed to bat around the dryer until it's perfectly dry then it won't put off lint and lint won't get on your other clothes or get stuck inside your dryer. Air drying doesn't even have to be a big pain because all you do is dry your clothes a little in the dryer, take them out when they're still damp, and hang them up for a couple of hours.

Reducing the amount of lint in your laundry isn't by any means impossible; you just have to be aware of what's going on inside your dryer and keep your dryer well maintained. You'll never be able to completely eliminate lint from your laundry or dryer, but at least you can control it!
