Press a Jacket Sleeve without Making a Crease

Summary: Hate those unwanted creases in your jacket sleeves? Fixing that actually isn't hard and you can live without jacket creases!

There are those dress jackets that necessitate a specific way of washing and ironing to result in that exact look. One of the things that really can mess up your whole look is when there's a crease in the sleeve of your jacket that shouldn't have a crease. Well, maybe that's not so important to you, but if it is important for your look, here's how you can fix it.

The easiest way to do this is to find a sleeve board. Essentially with sleeve boards you put the sleeve of your jacket onto the sleeve board and iron the sleeve as you move the sleeve around the board. You're basically ironing one small section at a time without creating a crease. The sleeve board is the best because you have the most control. You can iron the sleeve well and make it sharp and crisp and still have it maintain its creaseless look.

One of the problems with jacket sleeves is that you may not have or be able to find a sleeve board. And if you are able to find one, you may not want to invest money in it. There is, however, another solution to the sleeve crease dilemma. You can substitute a rolled-up magazine for a sleeve board. Roll up the magazine, cover it with a cloth, and slip it inside the sleeve. The magazine will then immediately unroll and make a firm ironing pad. You then run your steam iron up and down the sleeve without compressing the rolled up magazine.

The trick with this method, of course, is to choose the right magazine. You want a magazine that's sturdy and thick so you can really iron your sleeve instead of having to lightly brush the sleeve with the iron. You still want your ironing to be effective—you just don't want to have to deal with unwanted creases!

Eliminating creases from your jacket sleeves definitely isn't impossible; you just need to know the right tricks! If you can find a sleeve board or make a good substitute then anything you want to be crease free will be!
