Hold Your Pleats with a Paper Clip When Ironing

Summary: Pleats are sometimes so hard to iron and sometimes even seem impossible. Fortunately there is a way to successfully iron pleats and all you need in some paperclips from your office supply drawer.

I have a couple of pleated skirts and I love them. I also have a few pleated pants and I love those too. The problem, though, is that I never want to wash them because that means I have to iron them and that is a chore when it comes to pleats. There is a simple solution, however, to the pleat problem and all you need is simple household items.

You can actually use a paper clip to help you with your pleat ironing. This can, in fact, keep your pleats straight and even and it hardly takes any more time than you'd use trying to figure out how to iron your pleats. Use the paper clips (or clothes pins, if you prefer) to secure the intended line for the pleat. Then begin ironing on the underside, removing one clip at a time. Iron a pleat, replace the clip, and move to the next one. When you finish, turn it right side out and repeat the process.

This same process works with pleated pants as well. Sometimes with pants, it's hard to iron that straight pleat and have it go directly down the middle where it needs to go. Use the paper clips to set up that pleat and then slowly use your iron to create that crease where it needs to be. As you go up the pant leg, remove the paper clips and when you're finished, make a couple final sweeps with the iron to smooth out the pleat.

So believe it or not, creating pleats isn't impossible! In fact it's pretty simple when you can boil it down to using paper clips. You don't need to spend inordinate amounts of time ironing your skirts or pants anymore because now you know the trick to holding your pleats with paper clips while ironing!
