How to Recover from an Egging

Summary: Have you been the victim of a Halloween prank gone wrong? You have been able to clean a majority of mess that was left behind. Just one little problem remains though, that of getting the frozen egg remains off of your glass doors or windows. Here's how you can do that.

Being egged can be a traumatic experience for most people. As those who have gone through this can attest, the resulting mess never seems to want to come off, and when it finally does come off there seems to be almost as big of a mess left over as when you first started. Well, here is a how you can remove all of that mess, with as little hassle as possible.

Since these steps are designed to clean off frozen egg from glass you will want to be careful. Be sure that you are only using warm water when ever water is mentioned in these steps. Water that is warmer than room temperature will run the risk of breaking glass. You do not want to do this; while it would take care of one problem, you are then faced with a different one which is more difficult to repair.

First, as soon as you notice the mess, be sure that you hose off the area. In the event that you do not have a hose that you can use, you can wipe the area with warm soapy water and a cloth or sponge. After doing this, rinse using warm clear water and dry with a cloth or towel. In the event that this does not remove the egg, be sure to try scraping any excess egg off with a dull knife. A table knife or butter knife works just fine.

If any egg still remains, prepare a 50/50 solution of white vinegar and warm water. This means that you will fill up a bucket or some other type of container half way with the warm water, and then fill up the rest of the container with the white vinegar.

You then want to soak a towel into the mixture, afterwards placing the towel onto the area with the stain for about twenty minutes. As this may end up making your arms tired, you could prop up the towel with something else like a ladder, stick, or board of some kind.

After twenty minutes, rinse the affected area with warm, clear water. Again, you will want to use a dull knife to try and scrape of any egg particles that are still stuck on. Repeat these steps as needed to ensure that you have totally cleaned the area.
