It's summertime and you like to have those barbeques outside in the late summer afternoons—summer is a great time! You may have parties throughout your summer and it would be nothing out of the norm for you to be bringing food back and forth in and out of your house throughout the summer. Watermelon is definitely a summertime food necessity and one that is so incredibly tasty! Every once in a while however, that watermelon slice might just slip off the paper plate and onto your carpet as your guest is on his or her way to the back patio. Now you have a noticeable watermelon stain on your carpet! What do you do? You keep your cool and know that you can remove that watermelon stain without any sweat!
Before you start, you'll need the following: distilled water, enzyme based pre-washed soaking solution, ammonia, and dishwasher detergent crystals. The thing you need to remember when you treat watermelon stains is that you need to treat them as soon as possible. If you leave them too long, then you'll be left with a stain that might not ever go away completely.
Take a paper towel or a rag and blot up as much of the watermelon stain as you can, and then begin the more intense carpet treatments. Add one teaspoon of dishwasher crystals to one cup of water, put it on a clean cloth, and continue to blot the stain. Once you use the rag to blot, use your fingers to make sure the detergent gets all the way into the fibers and all the way down to the bottom of the fibers. Really work the detergent into the carpet. Rinse out the detergent by using warm water and a new clean cloth. Keep doing this until the stain is completely removed.
If a few treatments of this don't work entirely, then it would be worth your time and money to go out and buy some more intense carpet stain remover, which can be found in any household cleaning aisle or store. So, next time that watermelon slice slips off the paper plate and onto your carpet, you know what to do! Removing watermelon stains is no sweat!
