Cleaning Car Tires

It's always great to have a new car: the paint sparkles, the interior smells great, and the wheels like they just came off of a Hot Wheels car. What could go wrong? Well, as soon as you start driving that new car, you set your car up for getting dirty. Driving around anywhere, your car will collect dirt and muck and dust, and you'll probably have to clean it before long. Probably what gets the dirtiest on your car is the wheels, and sometimes just a run through the car wash won't get your tires looking like they did when you first bought the car. Here are a few ways you can better clean your car tires so they can look like new!

It never hurts your tires to take your car through the car wash every once in a while. This actually, will do most of the cleaning work for you. If you don't like to take your car through the car wash, or you don't want to pay the five dollars, then you can hand-wash your car. If you hand-wash your car, then make sure that you take time to specifically wash the tires.

First, take a hose and spray down each tire. If you're washing with soapy water (which hopefully you are), then take a rag and wipe down each tire with the soapy water, making sure to get all the mud and dirt off of the tire and the hubcap. Then spray the tires down again with some fresh water. The main part of the tire is now clean, and that's definitely the easiest part, and if you want to stop there, then that's fine and you'll still be able to say that you have clean tires. However, if you want to clean your tires more intensely, then you can tackle the tread and muck that out.

This is a bit more of a job and takes patience, time, and perseverance. Depending on where you live and where you drive your car, the tread on your tires might be quite difficult to completely and thoroughly clean. You'll need a scraper and a rag to go about cleaning the tread. Go all over the tread with the scraper and scrape out any dry mud, grass, gum, whatever, and make sure you scrape it out well. As you do that, take a rag and some soapy water and clean out the tread as you scrape out the unwanted material. This is definitely a long and tedious process, and in reality, you really don't have to do it, but if you are determined to have perfectly clean tires, then now you know how. If your tires are in really bad condition, then you might just want to consider having new tires put on.
