Removing Stains from Concrete Floors. Various concrete stains can be removed with a little scrubbing and the right chemicals. Cleaning concrete stains can take anywhere from several minutes of scrubbing to several days of soaking.

Removing Stains from Grout. Begin cleaning grout by applying a liquid cleaner. To make cleaning easier in the future, use a grout sealer, and do not walk over your tiles with dirty shoes. If there is already mold and mildew, scrub the grout gently with chlorine bleach diluted with a little water. For rust and other stains, use either a commercial cleaner, or using a mixture of baking soda, ammonia, and white vinegar diluted in water.

Removing Stains from Linoleum. Linoleum floors are generally easy to clean, but some stains will crop up that can be hard to remove. The best way to deal with stains is to polish the floor regularly to prevent them. If stains do appear, either use a commercial cleaner or strip the wax off the floor and clean it with a mixture of white vinegar and water. Remember to dry any water quickly, since water can damage linoleum floors and destroy their antibacterial properties.

Removing Stains from Tile. Most stains on tile come in the form of hard water, mildew, or rust. Rust must be removed with a commercial rust remover, but oil and organic stains can be removed with standard household cleaners. Grout stains can also be removed with a simple household chemical mixture.

Removing Stains from Wood Floors. You can use various methods to remove stains on wood floors. For water stains, use toothpaste, fine grade steel wool, or sandpaper to rub it out, then recoat the area with wax. For other stains, use bleach, ammonia, or other methods to buff out stains. Finish cleaning by waxing your floor to restore its original shine.
