Air Cleaning Systems

Written by Karen Bates (last updated January 20, 2020)

There are many aspects that effect your health, some that you can control and some that you can't. Of course, some people are more prone to illnesses than others. For instance, someone who has allergies will feel effects from pollen or pet dander in their environment more than someone free of allergies.

For people with allergies and respiratory conditions, breathing clean air is probably a high priority. Just about everyone prefers air that's free of irritating particles, but for someone with an easily agitated condition, keeping the air clean can make a huge difference.

Not everyone considers their own home as a place to find polluted air, but in fact there are many potentially irritating particles within your house. Pet dander, pollen, mold, and other allergens can cause allergy flare-ups and respiratory problems within the walls of your home, and although you can't see these particles it is still a good idea to consider purifying the air. Using an air cleaning system can definitely improve air quality and may help your health as well.

Air cleaning systems come in a wide variety, and whatever your situation there is an air purifier that can work great for you. For instance, if you are dealing with a fairly small space, you can find a cleaning system that is little and quiet to suit your needs. For larger areas, bigger units are available that are capable of purifying air in a more spacious room. The cost of these purifiers can range from under $10 to around $1000, and they come with different features and settings.

There are different kinds of air purifiers that work in particular ways to clean the air. For instance, some purifiers are sterilizing, ultraviolet, filter, or ionizing systems. Each of these types of purifier works in a unique way, and it is helpful to do research on the options if you are considering buying one. Generally, all of these purifiers do the same basic job: unwanted particles are either attracted to or get stuck in some kind of filter as air passes through the machine, releasing clean air into your home.

If you are worried about how an air cleaning system will appear in your home, rest assured that there are many styles to choose from. In fact, some of these purifiers are designed to look almost like furniture, with a wood case or other nice-looking material to make it look less obvious.
