Removing Ring Around the Collar
For anyone that has to wash and wear dress shirts, one of the greatest hassles has to be removing ring around the collar. While many people think that this is something that is more a pipe dream than a reality, the opposite is actually true. Removing ring around the collar is surprisingly easy. Here are a few of the best possible methods that you can use to not only remove ring around the collar, but to also prevent it from happening in the future.
- Soak with shampoo. A surprisingly effective method for removing ring around the collar is to apply a little shampoo to the stain before you place it into the hamper. Allow the shampoo to sit until laundry day, and then wash as normal. This works great since shampoo is designed to clean your hair from the same thing that causes ring around the collar.
- Greased Lightening. Greased Lightening is one of those surprisingly effective cleaners that you stumble across every once in a while. Simply spray the cleaner onto the stain, and allow it to sit for a few minutes to work, and launder as usual. This product contains no bleach so it is pretty safe to use on just about all kinds of fabrics, and the best way to get the most out of this product is to spray the shirt just before you place it into the hamper. For set in stains you may need to apply and wash two or three times before the stain is fully removed.
- Oxy-Clean. Oxy-Clean is one of the great cleaning products that is currently available on the market. This fantastic cleaner works great in all kinds of water, so you don't need to worry about whether you have hard or soft water. All you need to do is simply spray once along the stain, and allow that to soak for three minutes. Next, begin washing as normal but be sure that you have a soak cycle added. After washing, inspect the shirt to make sure that you have removed everything. If there is still any stain left, repeat the whole process again.
- Take more showers. If you are looking to prevent ring around the collar, then the best way to do this is through the use of more showers. It is often the natural oils that our bodies produce that causes ring around the collar. To reduce the amount of natural oil that is on your skin, take two showers a day, being sure that you use a soft scrubby or loufa to scrub your neck.
