Backpack Vacuum

For those in the cleaning industry, having the right tools to do the job well and with the most efficiency possible is vital. Custodial workers use many different cleaning devices each day, and for the job to go smoothly these tools must be easy to work with without being flimsy and delicate. For many cleaners, one of the most important pieces of equipment for the job is a good vacuum.

Having a vacuum cleaner that is easy to handle and transport is important, especially in custodial work. When it comes to doing heavy-duty cleaning, hauling around a clunky, heavy vacuum just isn't a feasible option. Of course, you don't want to use a vacuum that is so light that it can break easily.

Although many lightweight vacuum models exist today, the most convenient type of vacuum cleaner for long-term vacuuming is a backpack vacuum. These machines are designed to be conveniently carried and used for long periods of time with minimal discomfort to the user.

Most backpack vacuums follow the same basic design. Generally, they include a canister, filter, shoulder straps, a hose, cleaning wand, a long cord, and attachments. These vacuums are designed with convenience and efficiency in mind, and this is why so many in commercial cleaning professions favor them. When you need to move quickly through an office without needing to carefully maneuver a heavy vacuum, a lightweight backpack vacuum is the best way to go.

Backpack vacuums are usually quite lightweight, weighing between 10-15 pounds on average. This means that the wearer will encounter little back strain from using this machine, and will be able to use it for extended periods of time, if needed. The hose, wand, and attachments that come with the vacuum make the need to lean over less frequent while the maneuverability of the wand allows the cleaner to reach into smaller spaces to clean where a normal vacuum can't. Some of these vacuums have specialized filters, such as HEPA, that can help keep the air clean and reduce the release of allergens and dust particles.

Backpack vacuums come in different shapes and sizes and can cost from a few hundred dollars to over a thousand. Of course, different jobs will require specific characteristics in a vacuum, so if you are looking to purchase one of these vacuums, research your options carefully to be sure you get what will be best for your situation.
