While there aren't any real hard and fast rules about what you should and shouldn't purchase, there are some guidelines that can help you determine whether you are going to be purchasing the correct item or not. Keep these guidelines in mind when you go to purchase your new portable closet.

• What is the purpose? Its purpose will determine the size and type of portable closet that you will end up getting. How often will it be used?
• How do you want it to close? Do you prefer Velcro or zippers to close it? The Velcro ones are nice, but are not dust proof, while zipped closings do not let dust and dirt into the closet. If you prefer Velcro ensure that it is a durable type which will last throughout the lifetime of the closet; a zipper to close the closet, ensure that you buy one with a strong, durable zip.
• What material do you want? Portable closets can come in a variety of different materials. As such, make sure that you choose one which will work with the room that you plan on putting it into. Portable closets that are going to be used on a more permanent basis should be made of a fairly durable material. For those that aren't going to be used all that often, you can use a material that is less durable, and more easily stored.
