Finding a Laundry Service

Considering how important our clothes are to us, it only makes sense that finding a laundry service can be a tad difficult at first glance. You really don't want to leave the fate of your favorite leather jacket, or your best blouse in the hands of just anyone. Luckily, if you are willing to do a bit of work, you can find a laundry service that won't ruin your clothes. All you need to do is follow these simple guidelines, and you will be well on your way to finding the service that you need.

• Ask around. Never overlook the power of networking. You can often find the answers to problems that you find yourself faced with by simply asking around. This means that you need to talk to friends, family, neighbors, and coworkers to see if they use any kind of a laundry service (including dry cleaners and similar enterprises). Write down any and all names that they give you, as well as the more prominent comments and impressions that they may have, and set aside the list.
• Look it up. Look in the phone book, and see what you can find. The names of companies that look promising to you should also go on the list that you have from your networking efforts. Leave plenty of space next to each name so that you can add some comments and answers to questions that you may have. This list will help you determine which service you will want to handle your laundry.
• Make a list of questions. Create a list of questions that you will ask the companies on your list. In effect you will be interviewing these companies to see if they are worth your time or not. And, just like when you get hired for a job, you will be conducting an interview to determine that worthiness. The questions should cover such topics as the cost of the service, what is included, what is excluded, how long of a turnaround, and even if there is some kind of warranty or guarantee for the work done.
• Contact and interview. Call around the companies on your list, and begin asking the questions that you have come up with. Write down the answers to the questions that you get, and your impressions of the people that you talk to. Repeat the process for each of the companies on the list.
• Make your choice. Once you have finished interviewing all of the companies on your list, go back over your notes. Compare all of the answers, impressions, and comments that you have written down. Don't rush the process, but go with the one that you like the most based off of the information you wrote down.
