Portable Air Purifiers

Written by Brooke Tolman (last updated January 13, 2020)

You would be surprised just how many pollutants are in the air, even inside your own home, so to help keep your family healthy and safe, buy a portable air purifier to keep the air in your house clean and breathable.

You may think your air is clean, but you may have no idea what is really in it and you may have no idea just how great breathing clean air can be until you try it. The air in your home can be polluted by any number of things. For example, particles such as dust, pollen, animal dander, molds and bacteria could be taking over your home. Other pollutants include smoke and combustion from your stove, vehicle exhaust, or the gases that come from paints, varnishes and cleaning supplies. All these things can be very harmful to your health, maybe not right at this moment, but over time they can affect you.

The best solution to help keeping these things from affecting your home and family is to buy a portable air purifier. These work better than permanent air purifiers because you can move them to whichever part of the house that needs it most. Say your redoing your bedroom and are painting the walls, pick up your air purifier and put it in there to help with the fumes, or do the same if your deep cleaning your bathroom or kitchen so that the cleaning fumes don't make you lightheaded. If you have a child that suffers from severe allergies or you yourself suffer from seasonal allergies, put the portable air purifier in your room at night so that you can get a restful night sleep, free from irritants.

Portable air purifiers come in all shapes and sizes. There are large ones that can cover areas up to 1100 square feet to tiny ones that can hang on a chain around your neck that purify the air just in your immediate vicinity for those with allergies. Some of them specialize in purifying gaseous products out of the air and others in particle matter, depending on if you have a serious problem with one but not the other. Portable air purifiers are often very silent and you barely notice that they are on at all. Keep in mind though that these can run you between $55 and $200.

Portable air purifiers are a handy tool to have in any home since they can provide clean air for a wide variety of projects. It's better to be safe and have clean air throughout your entire home, then be sorry and have your lungs never forgive you for the particles they had to ingest.
