Floor Squeegee

Written by Karen Bates (last updated November 19, 2018)

When it comes to keeping floors clean, there are various options that you can use to achieve this task. Of course, the way you go about cleaning the floor depends on what it is made of, and not all methods will be as successful on certain floor surfaces. Some cleaning tasks require specific tools to get the job done, so be prepared with the right supplies and cleaners before you begin the cleaning process.

Although a simple mop works great on many kinds of hard flooring, some situations call for more than that. A floor squeegee is one tool that you can use to assist you in cleaning some kinds of flooring. These squeegees allow you to clean areas that call for heavy-duty cleaning on a regular basis, such as bathroom areas, hospitals, and some businesses that need to clean flooring thoroughly and often and will get wet in the process. Floor squeegees work similar to squeegees you might use on a window, and one of the primary purposes of this tool is to prevent streaks from showing up on the surface after cleaning.

Different kinds of floor squeegees are available to meet your needs, depending on what types of jobs you need them to do. When looking at floor squeegees, you can choose from various squeegee sizes and handle materials. A large squeegee would be ideal for cleaning big spaces, while a small one would be better for cramped areas. Squeegee handles can come made from wood, steel, plastic, or aluminum, and you should keep durability in mind when choosing which handle will work best for you. Squeegee heads may be curved or straight. If you work in the cleaning industry, it can be helpful to have a variety of squeegee types, handles, and sizes to tackle cleaning tasks.

You can buy squeegee parts separately and will be able to mix and match later on if desired. For instance, you can attach a squeegee head to an aluminum handle, or switch to a wood one if you prefer. Floor squeegees are relatively inexpensive and are a great way to get hard flooring looking beautiful and streak-free. Take a look at cleaning supply stores for a great selection, or shop around online to see what's available. Odds are good you will have little trouble finding the style, size, and length of floor squeegee you need for any job.
