Dust Mop

Have you ever been sweeping the floor and felt like you weren't getting things as clean as you could? It's true that a broom doesn't pick up all of the dust and dirt on the floor, and even if the surface looks clean you are probably missing a lot with just a broom and dustpan.

Of course, mopping the floor with water and cleaner can help pick up what a broom might leave behind. A mop, when used correctly and on a regular basis, is a very effective way to clean up dirt. But you don't always have time to deal with mopping, and what if you don't want to go to the trouble of waiting for a wet floor to dry or rinsing out the mop afterwards?

The perfect solution for you may be a dust mop. A dust mop is like a mixture of a broom and mop, but is able to clean better than a broom and with less hassle than mopping. The dust mop consists of a base with a cover and a handle. Often, the base swivels for easy maneuvering while you clean, and the cover can be removed and washed as needed. You can also find dust mops available in different shapes and sizes to suit your particular needs.

Just as the name implies, a dust mop is a great tool for areas that get dusty and dirty. While these messes can be difficult to clean with a broom, a dust mop can attract debris instead of just pushing it around. After the dust mop has collected dirty particles, you can shake the base to remove the mess. Because dust is attracted to the cover on the dust mop, hard to reach areas will be easier to clean.

When beginning your search for the right dust mop, you will notice that there are different kinds to choose from. For instance, you can decide on a cotton base cover or one made with microfiber. What you should choose depends on the kind of flooring you need to clean. Cotton is great for general cleaning needs, while microfiber is perfect for floor material requiring more delicate care. Keep in mind how much area you will be cleaning, and choose the right size of dust mop to best work within this area.

Even if parts of the dust mop wear out over time, you can easily replace them. Spare parts, such as handles and covers, are available at many cleaning and janitorial supply stores.
