Quick Toilet Cleaning Strategies

We all have chores we hate, and cleaning the toilet is often at the top of our list of disliked tasks. The idea of leaning over a gross toilet bowl and scrubbing gunk way isn't a thought that makes most people particularly happy.
Although most people dislike the annoying but important chore of cleaning the toilet, the truth is that there are ways to make it easier on you. You can save time and money and get the job done fast by using simple techniques and cleaners you probably have in your home already. Give some of these strategies a try next to you need to clean the toilet:
- When getting ready to clean the toilet, be sure that things surrounding the toilet (rugs, toilet paper, towels, etc.) are moved since water or cleaner could accidentally splash and get things wet while cleaning.
- For a quick and simple cleaning on a toilet that is only slightly dirty, use a toilet brush and scrub all around the inside of the bowl. You can use toilet cleaner for this if you want (especially if you want the best results and have a few extra minutes), but if you scrub daily with or without cleaner it should be sufficient for preventing build-up. If you use a cleaner follow the instructions on it carefully, but generally you will need to spray it on, let it sit for a few minutes, scrub away, and flush the toilet.
- If your toilet is especially dirty due to calcium build-up and other cleaners don't work, use a cleaner with acid to get the stains off. Note that this can be dangerous if you do not properly protect yourself. Wear goggles and gloves, and keep pets and children away while cleaning.
- To clean your toilet the natural way and without the hassle of going to the store to buy cleaner, head to the kitchen and grab the vinegar and baking soda. You can use either of these alone, but when combined they create a powerful and effective cleaner. To clean with both, first pour about a cup of vinegar into the water and let sit for 30 minutes. Then, sprinkle about ˝ cup baking soda onto a wet toilet brush and scrub the bowl. Repeat as needed.
- Remember that the exterior of the toilet needs attention, too. With an all-purpose anti-bacterial cleaner, spray the outside surface of the bowl and the toilet seat and cover. Wipe away with a paper towel.
Although cleaning the toilet may never be a fun task, it can be made easy, fast and relatively stress-free.
