Using Carpet Cleaning Equipment

Over time, even the most protected carpets can become dirty. Precautions like removing shoes before walking on the carpet, welcome mats, and laying rugs down can help, but eventually dirt can build up and make things look dull.

Of course you should be maintaining your carpet regularly to prevent dirt build-up. Vacuuming often and cleaning up spots right when they happen are important. But after a while, you might need to try something else to get the deep-down dirt out of your carpet.

There are different kinds of equipment that you can use to give your carpet a deep-cleaning. This equipment is often used by professional carpet cleaners, but you can use a carpet cleaning machine yourself and save a lot of money. Renting carpet cleaning equipment is a great idea for someone who wants a perfectly clean carpet but doesn't want to pay extra money for someone else to do the job.

Here are some tips for using carpet cleaning equipment in your home:

  • You can rent or buy a carpet steamer or shampooer at many grocery and hardware stores. Be sure to get the proper cleaning products to go along with it, depending on your carpet type and how much of the house you need to shampoo. You can even find eco-friendly options.
  • Use a pre-spray product to take care of badly stained areas. Spray the product on your carpet before using the machine, paying special attention to bad stains. When you go over these areas with the machine, they should lift out of the carpet more easily.
  • As instructed in the manual, fill the machine with water and go over your carpeted areas. It works well to clean each area in sections. You might want to clean around the edges of the room first.
  • If your carpet is especially dirty, go over the area again with the shampooer. It is a good idea to buy extra shampoo for this reason.
  • Once the carpet is clean, it could take several hours to a day for it to dry. Make sure it is completely dry before replacing furniture or walking on it a lot.

Using a carpet cleaner on your carpet can really help it to look its best. It is good for the carpet to be cleaned regularly, and by doing it yourself you can save a lot of money in the long run.

What is 8 - 1?

Juia

I will eat rice and beans for a month before I rent another carpet cleaner. I may spot clean a few areas with a foam cleanser if necessary but if I have any fear of setting a stain I leave it for the steam cleaning pros.

The pros are faster and more thorough. The rented cleaners are heavy and to not work well in tight spaces. Then there is the process of emptying the water!!! Not fun. The pros will move the furniture and see that the nooks and crannies are cleaned with their special tools. The equipment stays in the truck and only the hose comes into your house. This is not a project on which to economize. Bump for the experts.
