It's a fact of life that the carpets in your home will probably become dirty and stained over time, especially in high-traffic areas. Even with your best efforts to prevent soiled carpet, dirt is likely to end up in the fibers regardless of how hard you try to stop it from happening.
Instead of despairing over less-than-perfect carpet, you should consider your options for improving its appearance. You could go the expensive (and not to mention inconvenient) route of replacing filthy carpeting with brand new carpet. Or, you could just try to hide the mess with rugs. Of course, a better option in most cases is to have it cleaned. You can hire a professional to get your carpets looking like new again, which is probably the easiest solution although it is not always cost-effective. If this is your situation, then you should look into renting a carpet cleaner and doing the work yourself.
Rental machines can vary, but their basic function is to allow you to shampoo your carpet without needing to hire someone to do it or pay high costs to purchase your own machine. Many grocery and home improvement stores offer carpet cleaning rentals for you to use. These locations will also have cleaning products available for purchase that you can use with the machine. Stain removers, sprayers, carpet shampoo, pre-treatments, upholstery cleaner, and odor-removing products are some of the items you have to choose from. You can pick whichever one you feel that you will need to most effectively clean your carpets.
Upon renting the cleaning machine, you should make sure you have information on how to use it correctly. You will probably be provided with a user manual. Read carefully through the operating instructions to help avoid problems or damage to the machine or your property. Different rental machines can vary in design and how to use them, so even if you have used a rental cleaner before it is wise to look over the instructions again.
First of all, you will need to pre-treat your carpets if needed. This usually comes in the form of a spray that you can apply to stains and high-traffic areas of the carpet. Now, make sure everything is set up and ready for you to use the machine. Go over the carpeted area with the machine, then let the carpet have time to dry before walking on it a lot, or putting your furniture back.
Carpet cleaning rentals are a great way to save money and get the clean carpet you want in your home.
